The first graders did the Polka for the entire school during a Monday morning meeting. The school really appreciated their commitment to learning a new dance. We also celebrated our 100th day of school. The students enjoyed reading to their stuffed animals while cuddling up in their blankets. We even had a special snack with our different 100 items of food. Recently we've started SOLE. During SOLE the students are asked to research a question that cannot be easily answered. The first two questions we researched were "What is change?" and "What is a family?" The students were placed in groups of 4 and given iPads and computers. It was very interesting to see all the definitions that they came up with. It is especially hard for us as teachers, as we have to let them go to research on their own with very little help from us.
We said goodbye to the second quarter, as well as, 2014. Our Winter Concert was amazing! Mr. Levy and Mrs. Pohl did an outstanding job pulling it all together. We also had an amazing time at the CSU basketball game.
Happy New Year! In Mandarin, we have been learning how to say the names of our body parts. We're also really good at singing Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.
During our school meeting on Monday the Wright brothers visited us. They told us about how they took action at Kitty Hawk. The first graders also practiced reader's theater. They learned the function of the parts, and how to perform in front of a group. |
